How well do basic social services reach families across Bangladesh? UNICEF Bangladesh set out to measure it together with the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) and the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), using data from more than 200,000 households.
The findings cover nutrition, maternal health, education, public health awareness, and access to clean water and sanitation. The task was to turn them into a 20-page publication that policymakers and development partners can read and act on, in print and online.
The design rests on a modular layout system that leads readers through the findings step by step. A set of 30 custom icons, original illustrations and simple data visuals gives each service its own visual marker, so readers can follow many indicators without getting lost.
The main challenge was balance: making dense, multi-sector data easy to follow while keeping the neutral, credible tone an institutional report needs.
