Every July, the San Fermín festival in Pamplona sends runners through the streets of the old town just ahead of the bulls. This poster tells the whole story in one detailed visual piece.
It traces the tradition from its roots in 14th-century trade fairs and religious ceremonies, through the details of the encierro itself, to the worldwide fame it gained through Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises.
It was a self-initiated project, made when the studio was new and needed an audience. The work took more than a month: nearly 2 weeks of research across public sources and reports, then the copy, the design and every illustration. For years after publication, it brought a lot of traffic to the studio's website.
